# Can't upgrade from Lume UI 1.0.38 to .48 - seems I'm not the only one!

Hi folks,
Recently decided to dust off my beloved Lume Pad 2 and found I had to upgrade my firmware to latest (which goes back to July '23 apparently) since LeiaPlayer & LeiaCam (and probably other apps, haven’t checked) announced an “update required”.
However, going to “System Update” shows that “my software is up to date” (despite being Lume UI\_1.0.38\_LPD20\_US\_001\_0112). This seems to have been the case for [one other user](https://forums.leialoft.com/t/lume-pad-2-os-upgrade-lumeui-version-1-0-48/3135/62) (at least).
How might I go about updating to latest? The device seems semi-bricked without it.

Yes, thank you - ended up being a pre-release unit firmware issue that necessitated a device replacement
