ZTE announced the nubia Pad 3D II (Lume Pad 3) at MWC24 earlier in the year, and after announcing it was available for purchase in June, it has not been made clear where you can buy it. Phone calls to them have been met with the response that they are in stock and there is no specific time or manner in which they can be purchased. It wasn’t until the end of August that ZTE’s Red Magic brand, owned by Nubia, announced the launch of the Red Magic Tablet 3D Explorer Edition. This tablet is identical to the nubia Pad 3D II (Lume Pad 3) except for a different pattern on the back of the body. Presumably because Red Magic did better marketing than ZTE Nubia, it was given to Red Magic first for marketing and sales. (The first generation of the nubia Pad 3D, the Lume Pad 2 China version, was marketed by Nubia, and my experience as a consumer was very mediocre.)
Yesterday, September 5th, Red Magic officially released and sold the tablet, 12G RAM+256G ROM for ¥6499 ($917.6) 16G RAM+512G ROM for ¥7299 ($1030.6). I bought a 16G RAM+512G ROM and customer service said this version of the model is expected to ship on September 11th.If I’m free when it arrives, I’ll come back and give a review.
I want to buy this tablet, but I’m afraid of some caveats that usually accompany Chinese-market devices. Has anyone here bought this tablet already? Can you, please, answer some very important questions?
1 - Does it require ZTE\Red Magic accounts or “activation” to be used? Can these accounts be avoided \ not entered \ deleted?
2 - Can it display 3D YouTube videos? I’m 3D animator & create Stereo3D animated videos in Unreal, so it is crucial to me that LeiaTube or some other soft was able to display YouTube3D. I own RED Hydrogen One, and it cannot do it.
3 - What about Google services, are they installed \ possible to install?
1 - It doesn’t require ZTE\Red Magic accounts
2 - You can only download and play 3D videos locally.(Or, go ahead and change the code for moonlight3D so that this tablet can use the)
3 - I haven’t seen it, I had google services installed on my phone before and it was quite a hassle, since I have it on my phone, I’m not going to try to install it on this tablet.
Oh, thanks for the reply! Great that accounts are not needed… However lack of Youtube 3D is a dealbreaker :\ Maybe I should buy Lume Pad 2 for half the price after all…
Do you know if there will be LeiaTube version for this new screen?
Understood. Thank you. A couple more questions, please?
Can it show SBS content on screen as 3D? For example if opening SBS video in browser or some network player full screen? Most 3D monitors & TVs can do it, can this tablet as well? There is literally zero reviews of this thing, so we can’t check anything I’ve read here on this forum, that ZTE developed system hook for Android to convert 2d → 3d systemwide, but can this tech actually display SBS content as 3D? Or will it try to “convert 2d video” resulting in fake 3D with both halves of SBS on screen?
And what about screen protectors, glass or film, do they work? I mean, do they mess with 3D or not?
hello, I have been looking for a long time how to be able to read on my red hydrogen one youtube in 3d it would be nice if you could give me the procedure to achieve this
