I recently got my Lume Pad 2 and I am loving it so far. This tablet made me remember my old LG Optimus 3D phone.
I know the LG Optimus had a 3D Launcher, like a menu (actually called 3D Space) that displayed in 3D. Is there anything like this being developed for the Lume Pad 2?
I wish I could help to develop 3D apps but unfortunately I don’t know how to code.
No, we had an Immersive Wallpaper on the original Lume Pad making the Home Screen 3D but it’s not possible on Lume Pad 2 due to the display architecture.
We’re not planning on making a 3D launcher for a few reasons, but the main reason is that 3D uses more battery, so we feel that it only makes sense to be in 3D mode when enjoying 3D content. If the Home Screen was in 3D, then when you go from using Chrome to Netflix you’d have to go from 2D to 3D back to 2D, instead of just using the device as a normal, high-quality 2D Android tablet until you have 3D content you want to view.
@AngelS90 Nice. I had HTC EVO 3D, LG Optimus 3D competitor at the time.
But didn’t know it had a full 3D menu.
I agree with @Nima, going from 2D to 3D to 2D, just to swap out apps. Seems, overworked and gimmicky. I would rather prefer a smooth fluid 2D experience, and switch to 3D when consuming 3D content.
I haven’t played with all the native apps yet, but if there isn’t one, maybe add the 3D Space type menu for the movies? with the option to toggle it on or off? That way, its a win win and not a battery drainer by default.
It’s not a bad idea, but we always want to prioritize features that will provide real value, visual gimmicks are fun but we won’t work on stuff like that until we have most of the core features updated.
