Acer SpatialLabs Predator 27"

I have been waiting for years a proper replacement for my Nvidia 3d vision setup, and that it seems to be the Predator SpatialLabs. But still not available on Acer website (at least in Spain).

Any guess when it will become available to buy?

This is the newest official article I can find, and they claim it comes out in June:

Thanks for letting us know - eventhough it’s bad news, since recently they said it would be released in April. Hopefully it won’t end like Asus Spatial Vision OLED Notebooks did.

Ah, I was checking a few times at launch and kind of gave up. I have the laptop already so I’ve been playing games on that.

Oh ok
I have the 15.6 inch monitor first and the bigger screen on this is so much better. I’m about four feet away from it in my recliner and it has no problem tracking me. I just tried journey to the center of the earth in mvc mkv format in potplayer which has great 3d and the bugs tentacles came out the screen and touched my face! Going to have to watch the whole movie again for sure

Do you have a Blu Ray player or game console that you can use to confirm that it is not compatible with 3D from such devices?

I don’t see why you couldn’t use a Blu-ray player connected to Windows with potplayer using SpatialLabs Go 2d convert. I’ve been messing around with running my PS5 through chiaki-ng using SpatialLabs go 2d conversion and it pretty cool since I’ve gotten rid of all the lag from SpatialLabs Go

Edit: see my comment here which explains about Blu ray 3d player

Just my two cents, but I don’t think “Spatiallabs Go” delivers the full 3D picture quality that the hardware is capable of. Have you ever compared it with the Spatiallabs Player App, especially in terms of the image doubling/ghosting issue during dark scenes with bright spots? This is where I have an issue with Acer: the Spatiallabs Player app doesn’t seem to be a priority for them. It still lacks in codec support, subtitles, languages, etc. As long as this doesn’t fundamentally change, I won’t be interested in any of their SpatialLabs products anymore.

It’s discounted on Amazon right now

Thanks, but apparently only in the U.S. for 1.876 USD. Here in Europe it’s still priced at over 2500 Euros. And not available on Amazon.

Yeah, I just checked. Not an amazing discount, it’s still like $1,800. I’ll say, I have the 16" laptop and the quality on the Acer screen is simply amazing. Real 4K, super great depth and low ghosting. However, I don’t really want to bother with it as a developer, cause they lock out doing ANY app development unless you buy the pro model. Like you can’t use Unity or even Blender with the consumer model. Kind of not worth it to me, and sad they made that business decision.

Actually, wait. I just bought it. Still might be nice to play games on. I’m just disappointed they locked out developers from the platform.

Try PowerDVD 19 (not newer versions), and select 3DTV in 3D settings, if it doesn’t detect the HDMI 1.4 maybe it will enable Half-SBS output, then you can activate 3D with SpatialLabs Go

I hate them (Acer). They are selling nice, innovative hardware with their SpatialLabs product line. But they don’t bother much about the Software. Their current movie player still has no support for audio tracks, subtitles, half-over-under format and many modern video codecs. Worse still, it no longer plays movies from a NAS (SMB network storage) and plays even fewer videos than before. Unfortunately, the native player app is the only way to decently play SBS 3D videos without the usual ghosting / image doubling that you get when using Spatiallabs Go instead.

AFAIK Leia silently further developed the only 3D video player that formerly worked well with Acer Spatiallabs (called “SR Player” for Windows), but Acer seems to have decided to stop using Laia technology and going with another player instead, which really sucks.

Yeah, well this is sort of my issue with Acer. The default software is kind of “half baked”, to put it nicely. And I’m a developer, so I figured I would make my own software. Except the consumer versions CANNOT play custom-made software. You need to purchase the “Pro” models, but then anything you make cannot be shared or sold to people with the “Consumer” model, effectively meaning you won’t make any money as a developer. It’s an extremely obtuse and illogical business strategy, since they aren’t a software company and aren’t selling the software, it just needlessly limits the market with no apparent financial gain.

Just in case: I have a SpatialLabs Pro Laptop - if you plan to make a better version of its crappy movie player - please take my money

That’s pity, let’s hope they improve Go at least, to avoid ghosting
