Hello. Is the Alfred Hitchcock classic 3D film, Is “Dial M for murder” available in 3D for Lume Pad 2?
Not that I know of, but if you can find a SBS version (or rip one from a Blu-Ray 3D) it should work.
Thanks. I have it on Blue Ray.
Problem solved. I found an MP4 2D version and watch it in Lightfield. It’s as good as the original!
I actually went to MGM Studios back in the day, and they had a Hitchcock 3D feature. It wasn’t a full movie, it was only like 20 minutes, but had the best shots from some of his films. I remember the scene from The Birds was incredible in 3D at the theater.
I can’t find a sbs mp4 download of Dial M for murder anywhere. Not from safe sites. Does anyone know where I can find one?
Probably not. You can’t really get DRM-free movies (particularly not 3D) so it’s going to be sketchy sites. Depending on where you live it could range from slightly sketch to very sketch. So I doubt anyone will post links.
That said, probably the safest thing is to buy the Blu-Ray 3D and make a copy yourself. Though there is still some gray area here (in terms of the DRM), in general, making copies of your own property is legal in the US, as long as it’s not shared or sold.
Thanks. I can’t face all that hardware and software. I think I will just have to accept that it is unavailable for the tablet. Its a shame because the film is so well done.

It seems that this website makes available 3D conversions; do they also provide native 3D? About “Dial M for murder” I bought years ago the 3D version from Amazon. Then I have ripped it and I stream it to my Lumepads and RH1 (my procedure was described here Ripped 3D blu-rars do NOT play on LP as is - #9 by m.farina and I stream it with Jellyfin and MPV-4V by jakedowns). The interesting thing is that “Dial M for murder” was shot natively by Hitchcock in 3D (!) with two cameras, and viewing it in my old 3D TV Sony I really understand many choices of the director, who made many shots to create depth effects. However in RH1 and Lumepad 1 and 2 there is a significant ghosting, maybe because the parallax is quite big.
Yes under blockbuster
I recently watched the native 3D Blu-ray version of Dial M for Murder on my Lume Pad 2. While the movie is watchable, it suffers from a lot of ghosting due to its high-contrast cinematography. It’s probably only worth watching with a VR headset. I wouldn’t recommend going through the trouble of purchasing the 3D Blu-ray just to watch it on the LP2. In my opinion, the Lume Pad 2 works best with modern 3D movies, as they are better adjusted for screens that exhibit some degree of ghosting.
Asalamoe Olikum Ahmet. I realise it might well be ghosty due to the extreme parallax, especially where the hand of Grace Kelly reaches out of the screen to grab the scissors, but I stlll want to see it on my LP2! I saw it in 3D at a film museum in the 1990s. I already own the Blu-Ray, I bought it as soon as it was released on Blu-Ray and watch it on my 3D TV. I can only find it on HD-3D club, but this has reports of being being linked to a scam payment site.
Did you download it or rip it?
Aleyküm Selam. I use bd3d2mk3d to convert my ripped 3D Blu-rays to Full-SBS format for viewing on my LP2. While it’s not compatible with all 3D Blu-rays (I couldn’t convert the How to Train Your Dragon movies for some reason), it should work fine for “Dial M” . Some other people use DVDFAB’s bluray ripper. I hear that is more beginner friendly.
Also, ghosting is present even in scenes with low parallax. It’s noticeable almost all the time throughout the movie on the LP2.
I am not surprised most scenes look ghosty. The cameras were very bulky in the 50s. It was filmed with two cameras, facing eachother with mirrors at 90 deg between them.
Close ups were impossible, so apparent close up shots like the finger in the telephone dial were actually huge models of a dial and finger.
Most of the paralax was disguised by being slighly out of focus, the distance and close objects fuzzy yet with the actors lined up.
It was projected on two projectors simultaneously with vertically and horizontally polarised filters. So full colour and 3D. The intermission was so the projectionist could change both reels. The projectionists hated it, having to keep both in sync and lined up.
I saw it at the cinema, on more modern projection of course being 1/2 frame compressed film and circular polarised filters. and it was comfortable to watch, spectacular in fact. Its great on the 3DTV too. But I can see it does not come over well on the LP2. The 2D-3D converstion on the LP2 is very good, for the most part so good it is indistinguishable from the original native 3D. clips I see on YouTube. But the shock effect of the hand is missing, the AI giving the best viewable 3D it can, not extreme parallax.
I said 3dflickfix has it and 3dtorrents does to and 3dhdclub is not a scam I paid for it not too long ago but it costs more just use PayPal
Thanks. Very reassuring. I will get a month of premium subscription on 3dhdclub today!
I got a month subscription to 3dhdclub and it is very good. I have downloaded Dial M for Murder, House of wax and Creature from the black lagoon. All 50s classics. I will get far more over the coming weeks. Now I need a multiple terabyte storage unit! Thanks for the advice.
