This is the megathread for the Samsung Odyssey 3D, model G90XF.
This is a switchable 3D monitor with 4K resolution, 165hz refresh rate, and HDR (only in 2D). This device ships with the Odyssey 3D Hub, which in it’s files includes the LeiaSR Runtime Installer under C:\Program Files\Odyssey 3D Hub\InstallerFiles.
This means the Samsung Odyssey 3D is in fact a LeiaSR device. All 3D features require a Windows PC with the proper software and connection (DisplayPort or HDMI, USB-B 3.0 cable) to work.
The display has 3 core features:
-
Support for playing select PC games that run in 3D (currently all Unreal games converted to 3D through UEVR)
-
Turning any Half-Width SBS content that’s full-screen in Windows to 3D
-
Turning any 2D content that’s full-screen in Windows to 3D using AI (if you have a supported Nvidia graphics card)
There are quite a few game mods for it already, but the most promising one is 3D Game Bridge, which allows you to easily mod a game to 3D and have it run on the Samsung with negligible performance loss. Using the built-in SBS conversion is not only finicky with games, but also takes a big performance hit and adds latency.
There are a few communities discussing the monitor, and specifically its use for games. Here are the communities to follow:
The Real SR Experience Discord
And if you want to make stuff for the display, the two things you’ll probably want to play with are 3DGameBridge and Rendepth.
With all this, you’ll be off to the races with the Odyssey 3D! What are you playing on it?
