3D Effect on Nubia Pad 3D ii / RedMagic Explorer 3D not working. Any calibration APK to set Leia.Display.Config JSON?

I just bought a RedMagic Explorer 3D and the 3D mode does not seem to work. When viewing the pre installed demos images the images look flat and jittery. I have another RedMagic Explorer 3D and also a Nubia Pad 3D ii and the 3D mode works fine. I suspect this bad unit did not get a proper factory calibration.

When I compare the Leia_DisplayConfig JSON file between the working and non working units there are different values set for CellCalibration.phaseFun. And also for the rotation value under ID.

Is there an APK tool available to set these values? Or can I root this tablet and modify the JSON which I suspect is located in the protected area of /User/0.

Is my assumption correct that these settings might be the root cause why the 3D mode looks all flat and jittery? (the non working tablet seems to have the same values as the default values in the LeiaDisplayConfig APK). Any help would be appreciated!

@eric Would you be able to point me in the right direction on how to diagnose and fix this potential 3D display calibration issue? Thanks! :folded_hands:

Hi @Nospammm unfortunately we can’t help with the 3D calibration of these Nubia or REDMAGIC tablets.
Our recommendation is to return it if the calibration looks bad. Here’s REDMAGIC’s return website https://help.redmagic.gg/hc/en-us/articles/360031034211-How-do-I-return-repair-my-device#:~:text=To%20do%20so%2C%20please%20submit,redmagic.gg%20for%20help%20directly. If you did not buy from REDMAGIC, then returning it to the vendor is the REDMAGIC’s direction.

Respectfully,

Eric

Thanks for the reply Eric. I understand that you’re not able to commercially help with the RM tablets. Just hypothetically speaking, (smile), for LUMA 3 tablets, would a bad Leia.DisplayConfig file cause the 3D to go wonky jittery? And if so, is there any way for the customer to update this config themselves? (I’m doing some project work with the Leia tech and really urgently need to find a fix as our project is launching :sob:).

Hey @Nospammm Without the device in the hands of our or ZTE or RedMagic engineers, the cause of the jittery 3D. We just can’t speculate.

I’d suggest returning it and perhaps switching to the Lume Pad 2. I imagine some Lume Pad 2s or even RedMagic tablets are out there in the used market near you.

Respectfully,

Eric

We actually have 10 units purchased new from official RM shop overseas, and 2 of them out of the box couldn’t view the demo content at all. They both look the same and seem to have the same default non-working DisplayConfig settings (and no grey boxes in the display map). I was hoping it’s a calibration issue that a tool could be used to correct. Sending them back overseas would be tough and expensive for us right now. But sounds like no choice then. Thanks anyways. :folded_hands:
