Possible damage to display of H1 during disassembly

Today have worked on my H1 to replace the battery that was outgassing, and, following the advices in iFixit youtube channel, we used some hot air to open the back cover and some isopropyl alcohol to remove the (strong) glue of the outgassing battery. However after turning on the display, here is what happens

You see some geometric and regular features in background and a big white stain on the lower right angle… no idea on its origin. The alcohol was used in the opposite side, but of course could have followed the gravity. It does not appear to change if I lightly press the display or with time. Any idea? Has this happened to anybody who made repair of their H1? Since we have to repeat the operation on my daughter’s phone, we would like to avoid damaging also her display…

It’s almost assuredly due to the heat you used on the device causing the adhesive between the LCD and the glass to melt, mixed with potentially forces from the battery or yourself during disassembly. Not really a good solution for that, unfortunately.

Thank you Nima! Actually we used very reduced heat, and only on the back: since the battery was outgassing, we were worried about using heat. Since my post I have looked thru internet and found tents of reports of isopropanol damaging the display (mostly from COVID time where they used it to disinfect the display), such as e.g. here RISOLTO: Isopropyl alcohol in LCD - will it go away? - iPhone 4S - iFixit or here Reddit - Dive into anything. I think that alcohol has likely melt some of the glue and partly is trapped by capillarity. In the past 36h it changed, maybe improving as I try to show here in the picture just shot

In the report in internet I have seen mixed claims about recover over time (if any) and none with pictures, so I will try to document here what happens for those who can have similar problems. For sure with the next Hydrogen we will try just to make humid of isopropanol the flat card that we used to remove the battery (in mine we inserted alcohol with a syringe, and I think this was the stupid move…).
