Yeah. I’m working on my own conversion software, but this is kinda rough, even on a high-powered desktop machine, on a tablet it’s really a lot. In my tests (app is not finished) I can get down to around 100ms at 1080P (so that is 10 FPS). This is with an expensive GPU. Even reducing quality/resolution I expect 30 FPS (or 24 FPS for movies) should be possible, but for games at 60 FPS, I don’t think anyone has figured it out.
With games from the app store can you convert them to 3d
It seems like Android games work fine. I just tried one game The Room 3 and it worked perfect. It looked like the game was likely 30 FPS, but the 3D did not slow down the game, it was full speed and fully playable like normal. I’m download some more games now.
I just tried an intense 3D game “Zenless Zone Zero” and it was totally playable in 3D. Granted, in 2D it was running at 60 FPS and you lose a minor amount of performance for the 3D conversion, but it was still smooth and playable. Definitely a better experience than I saw with PC game streaming (perhaps that’s too much for it).
Idk what is the point of this tablet if it’s only good for video and can’t play games at atleast 60 fps. Wasn’t this tablet marketed to be able to play games. Is it ever going to improve?
Looks like Nima confirmed this and in comments he’s said it reduces games to 30 fps

I was really on the fence about it but I will not be getting it now
On the Predator 27 inch I’ve got the 2d to 3d conversion running at 60 fps with PS5 remote play and observer system redux but the side by side only does unacceptable frame rate for games
At least on the PC side there is the advantage of VRto3D and 3D Game Bridge which opens up compatibility with alot of games and has good frame rate
I do like the tablet. The screen is amazingly bright and clear, and low ghosting. And the fact that it can convert anything is great. Sadly the performance for the conversion isn’t that good, even 30 FPS YouTube videos will struggle and games, as you’ve heard, are likely 30 FPS. Granted, some games are playable like this, but it’s not an uncompromised experience. That said, the Acer struggles with conversion even on a $2000 desktop machine, so what’s being done on Android is still impressive.
Hi I am not interested in gaming but do like 3D photography. Sharing 3D pictures and see other people’s 3D picures from around the world. Watching YouTube videos.
Is the table good for that or should I look at other devices out there
The conversion for 2D photos is good. The depth effect is conservative, but it’s fast and essentially artifact free. The YouTube support is sort of a killer feature, because you can use the app as normal and just click around and it’s 3D. It’s just not exactly full speed, depending on the video, but it looks good. In terms of sharing photos, they don’t have a social network as far as I can tell.
Thanks for you reply, still waiting for release date in the Uk
Honestly, I’m kind of doubting if it will come out. They did seem like they were doing international at first (when the Nubia Pad 3D 2 was announced) but it’s been super quiet and I haven’t seen any news article, even though the Red Magic came out a few months ago. Probably safe to assume it’s China only and just import it.
Like the screen is at least 3x better than the LP2. The brightness in 3D is brighter than regular 2D Android tablets. There is very little to no ghosting in most scenes. They have 2D-to-3D in the OS, and while it is somewhat slow, it does work on anything. You can also load real stereo photos and videos. Even if the 3D conversion could be better, you could convert things with the LP2, or with desktop apps like Owl3D, and load them on the Red Magic. It’s still very much worth it, even if there are issues.
Yes it might work for anything in terms of (fake) 2D to 3D conversion. If only it would do the same with displaying (real) 3D sources in 3D, i.e. when a side-by-side movie is displayed, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But I suspect that you are forced to use its own native applications, which are - let me guess - crap.
You can play native 3D content, if it’s local on the device. Like SBS photos or videos. Seemed to work fine for me, but I didn’t attempt anything advanced like subtitles or alternative voice language.
Ok thanks. That’s what I mean: You have to copy the content locally and I doubt that language tracks, subtitles, aspect ratio settings, current audio (TrueHD Atmos or at least EAC3) and video (H265 MKV) codecs and specs are supported. Rather than being able to switch anything anytime from 2D to converted 3D, I’d want to be able to switch anything anytime from SBS 3D to glassless 3D.
I’m charging the device now. I can give it another look and see what works. This is one reason I’m building software, at least I can support desktop and the Lume Pad 2. However, I have not seen any app store for 3D apps on the Red Magic, and the older apps you can find (for Nubia Pad 3D) don’t work. My app isn’t ported to mobile yet, but once I get closer I’ll see if I can contact them to understand what the deal is in terms of developer support.
Okay, so it looks like SBS half and full width 3D are supported. No other formats. There also does not appear to be any sort of options for audio language or subtitles. DTS does work, but another movie I have with multi-channel audio is muted. Same BS. I can understand if it doesn’t have every little feature of a full media player, but not having any sound on a movie is completely dead.
That said, the screen is next-generation. It literally looks better than the 3D in the movie theaters and absolutely blows the LP2 out of the water. It’s like going from PS2 to PS3 graphics, not even the same world.
There may be a global release, I have been emailing RedMagic support and they say tuned to their site
That’s good to hear.
