I’m excited to share my new app, Stereo Photo Optimizer, designed for quick and easy correction of side-by-side (SBS) stereoscopic images on Leia LumePad 2 devices.
Available Features:
Open and view SBS 3D images
Navigate through your image collection (Next/Previous)
Export images with all adjustments applied
Adjust convergence for comfortable 3D viewing (by swipping left-right)
Fine-tune contrast (by swipping left-right) and brightness (up-down)
Zoom to fit images optimally on your screen
Reset all adjustments to default
Toggle alignment grid for precise positioning
Why this app?
The QooCam smartphone app is not optimized for tablets, has no 3D preview and requires dozens of clicks just to export a single image. I recently bought the Acer SpatialLabs Eye camera, which doesn’t offer any app for image correction at all. The LeiaPlayer app’s features are also quite limited. That’s why I created this app - to make 3D photo correction fast and convenient on the LumePad 2.
Note:
For now, an internet connection is required, as the app always loads the latest version online. This way, you automatically benefit from all updates!
A big thank you to Simon Gellis, as this app is based on his “LeiaWebXR” GitHub repository!
Question for Leia Team:
Is there a way to publish this app in the Leia Store for easier access by the community?
Screenshots below. Looking forward to your thoughts!
What’s next?
I’m planning to add support for LIF stereo images, special filters to reduce ghosting and optimize images for the display’s limitations, as well as configuration options for color temperature and image sharpness.
I’d love to hear your feedback, suggestions, or bug reports!
For some reason I’m having issues figuring out how to swipe or move to the next image. The home screen says it supports this feature, but I haven’t been able to figure it out
I’ve now included many new features and improvements!
New Features
Smart Sharpness Control: Intelligent sharpness adjustment for fine-tuning image details
Color Temperature Control: Adjust image warmth and coolness for better color balance
Compare Original Toggle: One-tap comparison between edited and original image
Viewing Mode: App now starts in viewing mode by default
Sidebar Toggle: Sidebar can be hidden/shown by tapping in viewing mode
Separate Pan/Rotate Mode: Pan and rotate functionality is now a separate mode to prevent accidental image movement on startup
Individual Parameter Reset: Each image setting can now be reset to its default value individually, in addition to the existing reset all parameters option
Improvements
Better Brightness Control: Intuitive brightness adjustment for enhanced visibility
Enhanced Contrast: More natural contrast adjustments for professional results
Enhanced Guide Lines: Additional horizontal guide lines for precise alignment
Visual Clarity: Updated icons and UI elements for better legibility
App Performance: Real-time processing with WebGL and overall performance enhancements
Interface Feedback: Improved visual feedback throughout the interface
Export Filename: Exported files now use “_2x1” suffix instead of “_sbs” for better LaiaPlayer compatibility
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these updates and any suggestions for future improvements or bug reports!
I’ve just made an update with a couple of new features:
New Features
Color Dynamics Controls: New saturation and vibrance adjustments for enhanced color manipulation
Noise Reduction: Advanced noise reduction that cleans up grainy high-ISO photos while preserving important details and sharpness
LIF File Support: Support for Leia Image Format stereo files (.lif, .jpg) with automatic convergence extraction from metadata (images with depth map are not supported)
Improvements
Button descriptions have been added in “View” mode
Support for handling of large files (width or height larger than 4096px per eye)
Now there is no more space for additional buttons in the sidebar , and I’m almost out of ideas for additional features. Only the ghosting fix is left, but this will take a bit more time.
Amazing work. Don’t know the limitations for what you are using to build this, but I have a few ideas:
-view 2 to 6 or even 8 images in 3D on screen at once, based on amount selected
-filters or affects that get applied to the left and right image
-pinch to zoom and pan support
I’ve updated the app again, but only some code cleanups, and smaller improvements.
To get the latest version it could be necessary to clear the app cache (Long tap on the App icon → App Info → Memory and Cache → Clear Cache). At the bottom of the start screen it should then show “Latest update: 2025-06-17”
-view 2 to 6 or even 8 images in 3D on screen at once, based on amount selected
Hmm, interesting idea - I’ll give that some thought! Would you like to edit all of those images simultaneously and apply filters to all at once, or is your goal more to just have a quick overview and easily switch between them?
-filters or affects that get applied to the left and right image
Do you mean new kinds of filters that would only affect one eye, or applying the existing ones separately? I’m not quite sure what the benefit would be - wouldn’t that strongly affect (or even break) the 3D effect? What kind of filters did you have in mind?
-pinch to zoom and pan support
That’s already implemented! Just activate the “Pan/Rotate” mode - it’s the very first button in the image editing section.
Thanks for the quick response. For the multiple images thing, it would mainly just be to enjoy viewing multiple images in 3D at once. I don’t think there is any need to make them editable in that state. If you did, some people might use it to edit multiple at once while visualizing.
For the filters, it wouldn’t be an overlay that would ruin the image in 3D, it would be more like an effect applied to the entire sbs image. There are lots of those types of tools out there that make images look more cartoony or more pixelated or like a paper texture. could be anything. I don’t know if there is open source stuff like that you can use, but if there is it would be pretty cool.
Ill check the pinch to zoom again. But I would recommend separating it out from the rotation. Because it is hard not to accidentally rotate when just trying to zoom. And I don’t think their is much risk of accidental zooming when using the rest of the UI because it is a pretty deliberate touch control.
Totally understand if some or none of this is doable, but I just wanted to let you know what features I think would be cool to see.
Thank you for sharing your 3D SBS Optimizer app with the community!
Unfortunately, Leia is not adding 3rd Party apps to the LeiaAppstore at this time.
Sorry for the bad news, but we wish you success with what looks like a helpful tool to those taking native 3D pictures and viewing them on devices with LeiaSR like the Lume Pad 2!
