RedMagic Pad 3D(nubia Pad 3D II / Lume Pad 3)Review/Thoughts

It looks like the code is open source, but it might be complex to compile if you’re not a developer. GitHub - LeiaInc/Moonlight3D: moonlight-android fork that has optional support of Leia Lume Pad 2

Very much appreciated :folded_hands: .. may someone here can help us to compile the app from the get hub source ..

I tried to search through Reddit but no luck ..

Well there’s no guarantee it even works. They are similar devices, but it’s a different OS and not the same exact hardware.

Then, we need to reach Leia staff to add their support ..

That’s exactly why I lost my interest in the whole glasses-less 3D tablet product line: Even before the RedMagic Pad 3D came out, I knew that as fascinating as the hardware might be, it will have one thing in common with all other Android-based glasses-free 3D tablets: It will come with a dedicated player that is mandatory to watch (SBS or OU) 3D movies, and the player will either not support recent audio codecs like (e)AC3, or it will only play files stored internally on the device, or it will lack other important basic functions like screen aspect ratio settings. Not to mention language settings or the ability to display subtitles. And you won’t be able to use any other player like vlc and open files on your samba network via “open with…”. I hate to say this, but don’t buy those devices to watch your 3D movie collection. Instead, buy a current 3D-capable projector and shutter glasses.

It’s kind of disappointing, yeah. The hardware is really nice, but the software is just not really bare minimum functional.

I got audio working by converting them very quickly to flac directly on the phone but cant fix aspect ratio

New user and received my RedMagic Explore 3D a few weeks ago. Tried to purchase it through Alibaba with no luck but was able to purchase it through Giztop. Great price and super fast shipping (also expedited shipping avoided tariffs). So far I’m seeing how next-gen this device is compared to the Lume Pad 2. The image quality is outstanding. I won’t re-iterate what others have said on here, but I do have a couple things to add to this thread.

First, if you can’t hear audio from a mkv movie file you’re trying play, its likely that the audio codec is DD+, which won’t play for some reason. There isn’t a way to switch audio streams on the player, so unfortunately the only way I’ve found is to convert the audio on a PC. Nmkoder is an easy to use program and free, but the only way I’ve found to make it work on the RedMagic is to change it to mp3 stereo. Just make a copy of your movie, drag it into the program, and choose quick convert and change only the audio stream.

Second, on the Lume Pad 2 I was able to install the apk for MPV3D and was able to do the same on the RedMagic. It’s a nice video player on the Lume Pad because you can change audio streams and even subtitles, but I can’t get the 3D part to work correctly on the RedMagic. Not sure what setting can make it work but it would be the preferred video streamer if possible.

Lastly, the global 3D setting is cool. But take the Mozaik3D app as an example. When you open it on the Lume Pad 2, it automatically detects the 3D signal and turns it ON automatically, whereas the RedMagic you have to turn on the global setting. The results are waaay less 3D and depth than the Lume Pad 2 on this application. I’ve looked through the settings and can’t find a way to recognize the apps 3D signal. There has to be way I just can’t find it.

P.S. I really wish I could use Leiapix on this thing.

Hi, through my hair pulling I found out for just audio change you can use this app to do it directly on the tab and it’s really fast no re encoding just set to copy the video stream and change the audio stream sorry for not mentioning it

I don’t think the Mozaik3D app is compatible the way it is now with the RedMagic. Global 3D conversion will work with any app including that one, but its gonna be really underwhelming. I think they would have to work directly with the developer of the Mozaik3D app again to get it to work the same way on the Red Magic, but that tablet isn’t even getting a global release, so I don’t think that will happen.

Just go to one of those APK sites and download the Google Play Store. On the REDMAGIC side you just have to do the installed app settings and enable the Google Play Services.

Tried sideloading the four required apks multiple times and tried micro g method used on huawei phones. I guess its not possible but i dont know if im trying the wrong apks

You have to enable the Google Services first or it doesn’t work. REDMAGIC comes with them (but they are disabled).

Yes idk if it came with this phone or not i didnt check at first i just installed the four required apks to get play store running but i uninstalled them but that wouldnt have deleted the play services if it came with this phone would it? It doesnt show up in the settings to enable it until i install the apk. Dang might have to reset the phone but have a feeling it didnt come with the phone

I don’t think it matters if you install/uninstall additional APKs. The issue may be whether their custom version of Android works with Google or not, and I don’t know.
