Leia 3D Player can add 3D tags to any open file, so you don’t need to rename anything - just press 3 dots on the top right.
Hi you are lucky
I cannot find out if or when thre RedMagic or the Nubia Pad 3D ii will be avaliable in the UK
I also wanted to purchase the Acer SpatialLabls Eyes 3D Camera, but again cannot find out if or when I will be able to purchase one.
Cannot wait to see your observations
TOP Feature! This tablet has charge bypass! You can connect it to charger and turn off battery charging completely, thus removing battery wear & heat generation. So you can basically leave this tablet always connected, like external monitor, and the battery will not degrade like in all other devices.
The only mobile I’ve seen this feature before, was Asus ROG phone.
Overall android feels like normal old-school android, NOT like totally different OS like in MIUI or other China-market devices. Actually, after I uninstalled all Chinese bloatware & installed GBoard, Chrome and Play Store, this tablet feels just like a regular global-firmare device, almost like Samsung Tab S8+ (or s9+). Screen quality & brightness are TOP NOTCH, the only device where I have EVER seen better IPS panel - Xiaomi Book S 12.4, but that panel was nowhere near as bright.
Overall build quality, materials and feel are on the level of very expensive premium notebooks like HP Spectre or Tab S8 Ultra. After all, this IS an expensive device, but for once you do see it and feel it immediately. Even case is top quality, incredibly lightweight and with beautiful touch feelings. 10 out of 10.
I ordered from here. I believe they ship worldwide and it’s legit.
Hi
Thank you very much for your info.
I will wait for a UK release because of problems with warranty may arise. If they do not release in the UK, I can go to the website you sent to me.
Thank you again
All the best Roger
Fair enough. I would have waited, but I don’t see any news of a US release.
Hi
Interesting that you had the same problems in trying to purchase one
If I do see advertising for them in the UK I will you know
All the best Roger
So this article from February says this about the “Nubia Pad 3D II”:
The nubia Pad 3D II is expected to launch in Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and China later this year.
This is a newer article about the RedMagic tablet (unclear if this is a replacement for the Nubia Pad or if they are separate products);
Nubia hasn’t announced global availability either, though there’s still hope considering some of their gaming phones do make it to the US, like the RedMagic 9S Pro.
Which, as of September, said there was no announcement of release outside China. So I don’t know, kind of confusing.
Hi
Thanks please keep us updated
Hello
So, here’s my first take on this little marvel To sum it up: it’s worth every penny. That’s pretty rare these days.
The quality of the 3D screen is outstanding—far better than LG or Philips’ passive 3D, and much brighter than Samsung’s active 3D, with no flicker. Ghosting is practically nonexistent, the colors are vivid, and while there’s a slight drop in resolution compared to 2D, it’s barely noticeable. You’ll only sense it if you switch from 2D to 3D in real-time. Once you’re in 3D, though, it looks so good you won’t even notice any change.
The biggest surprise (compared to my RED Hydrogen) is that the 3D mode uses the same screen LEDs as the 2D mode. That means no drop in brightness, no change in uniformity—nothing. You can use this tablet in 3D mode as often as you would a regular 2D monitor. This is how new tech should work: you can see the difference
Performance-wise, it’s fantastic—Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 powers everything smoothly. The sound quality beats any tablet I’ve used, approaching Samsung’s Tab S8+/S9+. You can enjoy YouTube or music without headphones, and the surround effect is surprisingly good, thanks to Dolby DTS and tons of customization options. Even without 3D, this is a premium, well-built, and aesthetically pleasing device.
Here are some key features that aren’t mentioned often but are worth noting:
- Google services are pre-installed, you just need to enable them and install the Play Store APK.
- It has a fingerprint reader.
- Leia 3D Player allows you to tag any file for 3D playback with a simple tap—no need to rename files.
- The camera captures 4K30 video in 2D mode with stabilization, in 2D it only uses the inner sensor.
- TOP feature: Charge Bypass! This feature lets you run the tablet while plugged in without using the battery, meaning no wear or heat generation. Perfect for extended use as an external monitor.
- The 3D conversion quality is amazing. Not quite native, but good enough for casual YouTube or TikTok viewing. It’s so good, you might give up on 2D entirely!
- RedMagic 9 OS feels like traditional Android, not a heavily modified UI like on many China-market devices. Once you remove the bloatware and install GBoard, Chrome, and the Play Store, it feels as smooth and intuitive as a global firmware device—almost on par with Samsung’s Tab S8+.
- Build quality is top-notch, on par with premium notebooks like the HP Spectre or Samsung’s Tab S8 Ultra. You’ll feel the quality the moment you hold it.
- It supports double-tap to wake/sleep—a must-have feature.
- The status bar automatically hides in 3D mode—a small but useful touch.
- Most Chinese apps can be uninstalled or disabled, making this experience far better than with Xiaomi or Huawei devices. Compared to Xiaomi, this is 100 times better, compared to Huawei\Honor - …well, there’s no comparison really, Huawei devices are bloated to the level of being unusable.
- Home launcher has an incredibly useful feature that is absent is ANY other launchers I know – an ability to hide “notification badges” per app. It is fantastic, because it allows to get rid of that misleading “1” badge in the corner of every resident tool, like AdAway, MacroDroid etc.
- It supports scheduled power on/off, like many Chinese devices—wish global models had this.
- Multi-window support mirrors OneUI 6+—best in the market.
- It stays cool even when converting 4K60 videos to 3D—whatever cooling they’ve used, it works perfectly.
- The lock screen’s 3D images in ZTE’s 3D Locker are mind-blowing
Now for the downsides:
- Leia 3D Player can’t receive shared files or access network storage, so native 3D content must be copied to the tablet or played from USB drives. However, 3D conversion works with anything on the screen, so even network-streamed videos in apps like MX Player look great. It cannot recognize native SBS files, but the overall quality of conversion is so good that you can basically forget about native 3D films & watch everything in 3D, even titles that were never available in 3D.
- The tablet is heavy, like a Tab S8+ with an S24 Ultra stacked on top.
- It can’t make calls (as far as I’ve found), but it does support SMS.
- Why can’t we delete the pre-installed 3D models in “Model viewer”? The first one there shows some kind of degenerative “hero” standing over a separated head of a murdered dragon. This greatly offends me & drives me mad.
- 3D-converted 4K videos don’t appear as smooth as 2D, particularly if the source video is 60fps. Locally stored files don’t have this issue, so it’s likely a network limitation & not insufficient processing power. (I tried lowering screen fps to 90 & 60hz as was mentioned in the first review, no improvement)
That’s about it for the moment. In conclusion, this tablet is a game-changer, it is incredible and worse every penny for what it offers. It simply does what no other device on the planet can – moves your everyday interaction with digital world into the Third Dimension. I cannot describe what a huge difference this makes. Go get one!
Yeah, it’s amazing. You forgot one big downside, tho: only available in China (AFAIK).
It’s not downside when you can use TaoBao to purchase anything at the lowest price possible, and then use some logistics company with Chinese warehouse to transfer your goods to you.
However, I did forget to mention the BIGGEST thing about this tablet: 3D works in the dark.
If in complete darkness, then it works with bright scenes in your content, when the screen’s brightness is enough to illuminate your face. However, even a simple computer monitor behind the tablet is enough for 3D to start working. Yesterday I’ve noticed also, that if a monitor behind tablet shows something blue, like a blue background of Norton Commander (bet no one here remembers what it is) - then 3D works flawlessly even on the dimmest settings. So the cameras must be very sensitive to blue light.
Fair enough. As I mentioned, I had no problem importing (I posted a link above). But it does become an issue regarding support and warranty, if anything goes wrong.
Well, considering you are paying $886 on Taobao versus 1500+ euros \ pounds for “Global” version, if anything goes wrong you can simply purchase ONE MORE and still spend less money
(not my case, though - our customs fined me for $340 for this tablet, so for me the total price was $1300 )
I didn’t have to pay duty, but it cost me $1,200 since I upgraded the storage. Still worth it, and I personally don’t care (I like to live dangerously), but it matters to some people.
I have a question… Can you, as a programmer, look into the code of Leiaplayer 4.0 that is installed on Redmagic, and find what is the difference in API calling for 3D screen initialization? I’m sure it will be a couple of lines, no more. May be we can modify LeiaTube app from “Lume pad 2” to initiate the new screen? I’ve just found two Leia apps in “Redmagic appstor” and they install as usual, and even display videos & 3D models, but do not initialize 3D mode.
Working LeiaTube is all that we’ll ever need - it receives shares.
Not legally, no.
??? Who cares? Leiatube is free app. No one’s going to sell it after modification.
Hi
Thank you for the great report
